The upcoming horror anime film, “Feast of Amrita,” has recently released its trailer ahead of its premiere on May 26th in Japan. The film serves as a prequel to director Saku Sakamoto’s previous work, “Aragne: Sign of Vermillion,” with Kana Hanazawa set to reprise her role as Rin, the film’s protagonist. The “Refine Edition” of “Aragne: Sign of Vermillion” will also be shown as a double feature with “Feast of Amrita.”

“Feast of Amrita” stars Maaya Uchida as Tamahi, a high school student who experiences fear and fantasy after witnessing a new apparition in her housing complex. The cast also includes Mamiko Noto as Aki and MoeMi as Yuu. Both films are solo productions with Sakamoto serving as animator, scriptwriter, music composer, and creator in addition to directing.

“Aragne: Sign of Vermillion” premiered at the 2018 Fantasia Festival and was also screened at other prestigious film festivals like Annecy 2019 and Taichung International Animation Festival 2019. “Feast of Amrita” and “Aragne: Sign of Vermillion Refine Edition” will be shown at several locations including Tokyo’s Cine Libre Ikebukuro, Aichi’s Cinema Skhole, and Osaka’s Cine Libre Umeda.
